- If an athlete wants to excel in sports, particularly in soccer, then I believe that individual needs to be excellent in these areas: high quality nutrition, stress reduction, athletic recovery, mindfulness, an extraordinary work rate, creating a fun & fulfilling social life outside of school and soccer, mental & emotional resilience, organization & time management skills, communication skills, the desire & ability to stick to a long term plan, and being truly world class in one area or skill that sets them apart from the rest.
- If a motivated athlete has these things, they can play for a top club, at a top college and even play pro. In my personal experience, both as a student-athlete and now as a coach & mentor… If all of these areas are strong, doors stay wide open! Opportunities to play for the best teams, to attend the best universities and to play soccer at the highest level continue to be an option (even if said athlete isn’t interested and prefers to choose a different path).
- I understand the process of moving from middle & high school to excelling in college soccer and at the pro level. And I believe in taking a highly customized, holistic approach to this process of helping a young athlete build extraordinary self confidence, soccer skills & valuable life skills on the path to accomplishing their goals of playing in college.
- But I’m not just motivated by helping my athletes play college soccer at the university of their dreams, where they are an excellent fit both soccer wise and academically… I’m also highly motivated by the vision of your son or daughter truly thriving when they are in college, starting freshman year, in soccer, school, their social life, their health, their mental health and beyond. Because what most parents don’t know is that only a fraction of the “battle” is getting into the university at the top of your athlete’s list. From there, once you’re on the team, the next layer of challenges begin. For example: acclimating to a new team as a rookie freshman; acclimating to living away from home for the first time; earning the playing time you desire; building a resourceful, positive relationship with the coaching staff (who will determine your athlete’s role on the team), etc. This thriving comes from a set of very learnable skills, and that’s why I’m passionate about working with middle and high schoolers.

-
I work 1-1 to personally optimize an athlete’s mindset and resilience, which I’ve seen has a ripple effect in their life.
-
I teach my athletes how to actualize the most resourceful states of mind coming into games, school, social life, family life and beyond. For example: how to control the ability to get “into the zone” on the field, which is the most powerful state in which to play sports, do homework & take exams.
-
I believe in the importance of teaching young athletes how to consciously use their brains (instead of letting an untrained brain use them). I coach my athletes to overcome limiting beliefs & negative emotional patters and to develop their self-concept while instilling unconditional self-esteem.
